The lower secondary school (formerly middle school) is dedicated to the development of student autonomy and responsibility.
Here, students acquire a personal study method, consolidate their critical skills and refine their mastery of communicative languages.
As part of our centuries-old Somascan tradition, Collegio Gallio’s educational prospectus celebrates the personal, cultural and social identities of students, encouraging them to achieve levels of excellence while also actively integrating STEM (science, mathematics, engineering and mathemathics) topics.

Our offering is imbued with innovation, active student involvement and a global vision of education.
We firmly believe in the power of knowledge and its positive impact on students’ lives. We embrace the EAS teaching model which emphasizes learning based on real and practical solutions. We promote cooperative learning, which encourages collaboration between students.
Our teaching is enriched by the use of multimedia material from different sources.
This approach aims to keep students connected with the latest resources and technologies, making learning more stimulating and relevant.
Throughout the year, we host students and teachers from other institutions to offer special lessons that enrich the educational experience of our students.
At Collegio Gallio, we recognize the value of languages as a key to entering the wider world.
In addition to italian and english, we offer dedicated spanish teaching while german and french are optional.
In parallel with the curricular english lessons, our prospectus is enriched with the C.L.I.L. model (Content and Language Integrated Learning). three subjects – music, history and geography – are taught entirely in english with one hour where both the class english teacher and a native speaker teacher are present.
To further enhance the students’ language skills, we offer Cambridge english KET and PET courses in the afternoons.
At the end of these courses, enrolled students have the opportunity to sit the relevant Cambridge exams with the prospect of obtaining language certification at A2 (KET) and B1 (PET) levels.
Collegio Gallio is well-appointed with spacious facilities both indoor and outdoor for both sporting and social activities, making it unique as an educational facility in the province of Como. These facilities include two large multi-sports gymnasia, a 460-seat auditorium ideal for conferences and theatre performances and two conference rooms. Architectural details of the college such as the porticoes, the large decorate courtyards and the historically significant spaces such as the great hall, the corridors, libraries and the halls contribute to creating an atmosphere that remains in the hearts of the students.
Specialized classrooms and laboratories constitute an important element of Collegio Gallio’s prospectus. these rooms have been designed to offer an immersive and interdisciplinary learning environment that stimulates students’ curiosity and creativity. Each specialized room is designed to encourage the in-depth study of specific topics, thus enhancing the educational experience. The proposed excursions and outings are another significant aspect of our program. Students have the opportunity to explore local and national places of interest as well as European destinations through experiences that go beyond the walls of the classroom. these field trips aim to integrate classroom learning with practical and immersive experiences, providing a concrete context for understanding the concepts learned.
Among few schools in Italy, Collegio Gallio can count on an internal pedagogistas a point of reference for students, families and teachers.
Particular attention is paid by our school to students who demonstrate special educational needs (BES, ministerial directive of 27 December 2012), that is who have specific disabilities or developmental disorders or socio-economic, linguistic or cultural disadvantages.
Collegio Gallio’s mission is to create a path for personal growth for each individual student. However, students who excel in one or more subject find fertile ground to develop their talents with dedicated program.
Collegio Gallio is committed to providing a complete educational environment, in which nutritional education is an integral part of the learning experience, also thanks to the school refectory which prepares meals daily according to the nutritional tables provided by the ATS and takes care of the special diets of those with a medical certificate. The teachers and the self-service method used to serve meals collaborate to create a culture of enjoyment of shared meals and the provision of balanced, nutritional meals means that students are being prepared for a future in which knowledge of the right food choices is fundamental for a healthy and well-balanced life.
